Charles Ray Pusser, 84, passed away December 9, 2017 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born July 9 , 1933 in Enville Tennessee to Herman (Fuzz) Pusser and Sarah Frances (Rainey) Pusser, the oldest of 3 children.
He graduated from Milledgeville High School in 1952 where he excelled in baseball and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher. Charles began a long career in the Air Force serving over 22 year with rank attained of Senior Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean War.
He met his best friend, Betty Caroline Holland and they were married in 1955.
After his retirement from the military in 1974, he began a second career at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock Texas working in the engineering division and retiring in 1990. He then worked with his wife at Accent Flowers in Lubbock, Texas until they both retired in 1998.
Raising his 4 children;Diane, Dennis, Nancy and Melody was his proudest achievement.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren;Jonathan, Matthew, Christopher, Jennifer, Richard, Alexandra, Isabella, Alex, Anthony, Alexis and Kimberly and great-grandchildren; Mercer, Maggie and Porter play and grow into toddlers, teens and young adults. He loved spending time with his family and his wife of 60 years. She preceded him in death in 2015.
Charles is survived by daughters, Diane Nazario, Nancy Pusser, and Melody Pusser; Son, Dennis Pusser ; Sisters, Faye Cromwell and Judy Rogers. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2pm. Online condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
