The family will receive friends for visitation and remembrances on Wednesday, September 25, 2013from 11:30 am till 1:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home followed by services celebrating his life and legacy at Resthaven Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Calvin was born April 7, 1924 to Curtis and Marie Campbell in Helena, Arkansas. He moved with his family to Lubbock in 1938, where he graduated from Lubbock High School in 1942. Calvin entered the United States Army in 1943 and served during WWII in the Philippines until 1946. Calvin married Addie Mae Dixon in 1948 and graduated from Texas Tech in 1950. He was the manager of Nunn Electric Supply for 32 years. Calvin was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for 50 years and St. Luke’s UMC, and was deeply involved in civic and religious organizations throughout his life including Caprock American Business Club, Lubbock United Neighborhood Assoc. and Hope Community of Shalom. He served on the board and worked on the development of “4th on Broadway” and “Family Promise” program for homeless families.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife Addie Mae and his sister Juanita. He is survived by his son Duward, wife Brenda and grandson Curtis of Lubbock; his daughter Demby Ivy and her husband Vic of Ft. Stockton, TX, and grand daughters Dacy Ivy of Abilene, TX, and Delaney Ivy of Temple, TX; two sisters, Peggy Williams and Wanda Childers of Lubbock; and his brother Jack Campbell from Tyler, TX; and a special friend and loved one, Helen Trussell of Lubbock.
