Bill Gott

Bill was born on November 19, 1944 in Wheeler, Texas to Cleo and William Gott. His family moved to Lubbock where Bill attended Hodges Elementary, Atkins Junior High, and Monterey High School. In 1970, Bill married Marta Kennedy and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in history and economics from Texas Tech University.

While in high school, Bill began working for Furr’s Supermarkets and continued to do so until 1981. During his years as a store manager, he served as a mentor for students in the DECCA program and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Bill then worked for Albertson’s Supermarkets, both in Lubbock and Plano, until his retirement in 2012.

Bill was also a long-time member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock before moving to Plano in 2002.

Bill is survived by his wife Marta, sons Brandon Lee Gott and his wife Angela of Plano and Jeremy McClain Gott and his wife Lauren of Dallas; three grandsons Ian Sabe Gott of Plano, Thomas McClain Gott of Dallas and James Heathington Gott of Dallas; brother Perry David Gott of Cleburne; sister-in-law Naomi Gott of Lubbock; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill’s immediate family will be welcoming other family and friends at a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, October 24th, followed by a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday, October 25th.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
