Betty Ray Richards

Betty Ray Murdock Richards, was born December 11, 1939 to William and Mattie Lee Murdock. She passed away at her home on October 23, 2019 surrounded by her loving family and under the wonderful care of Hospice of Lubbock.

Betty graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958 and later received her Texas Cosmetology License and worked as a hair stylist for many years. She also worked at Aramco Services Company for 14 years, in administration, while living overseas in Saudi Arabia with her family.

Betty’s main devotion was to her family. She was the most loving and devoted Wife, Mom and Nana in the world. Her hobbies consisted of reading, cooking and gambling.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jim; sisters: Bobbie Gene, Wanda, and twin; Billie Kaye; brothers; Jack and Durwood.

She is survived by her son, Tony of Lubbock; daughter, Christie (Charles) of Florida; brother; Harvey of Lubbock; five grandsons; James, Jason, Dylan, Tyler and Logan; three granddaughters; multiple nieces and nephews and dear friends who also are considered family; Rojean and Tony.

The family will receive guests at 9:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2019 at Resthaven Funeral Home for a 10:00 a.m., Celebration of Life in the Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
