Addison E. Gradel EdD, 69, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away September 26, 2024. He was born August 1 3, 1955 in Waco, Texas to Bernard and Ethel Gradel. Addison graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Neuropsychology and he dedicated his life to helping people. He married Tammie Gradel on may 3, 2015. He served several nonprofits such as Hold Your Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, Texas Tech Riding Center, Family Counseling Services, and Hapheo. He was an avid alumni of TTU; and he loved to flip pancakes for Lubbock Lions Club. Addison also served as a foster parent in his younger years.
Addison lovingly accepted his role as stepfather and grandfather to Italie Hernåndez (Ryan) and children Nathaniel, Natalie, and Nevin; and Mariah Sauceda and son Ozias.
Addison is survived by his wife Tammie; his brother Bernie Gradel, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Lubbock and their children: Diane Hunt of Whitharral, her children Truman Hunt, Mason Hough (Alex), Haden Hunt (Chandler), their children Samuel and Jonah, all of Austin; Daniel Gradel of San Antonio; and David Gradel (Shannon) of Lubbock; his late brother Paul's children: Jennifer Gallery (Ethan) and children Jordan Brown, Tyler Brown, and Josef Gallery of China Springs; and Josh Gradel of Waco; and numerous cousins in the Waco area.
A memorial will be held at 2pm October 3, 2024 at Resthaven chapel, 5740 1 9th St., Lubbock, TX.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to make donations to South Plains Wildlife and Rehabilitation Center, Family Counseling Services, or Misericordia del Campamento Horse Rescue.
