Theresa “Resa'' Anne Yelek passed away unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism on April 2, 2023 at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was 61 years old. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Resa is survived by her children Claire Knight and Mike Burnett, son-in-law Trevor Knight, dog Charlie, sister Debbie and brother-in-law Michael Arruabarrena, brothers Kurt and Tony Yelek, nephews Devin and Sean Arruabarrena, Hans, Shane, and Jasper Yelek. She is also loved and remembered by her lifelong friend Monte Burnett, extended family, and caring friends. Resa was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie and Don Yelek.
Resa was born in Orange, California on November 3, 1961. The daughter of a marine, her childhood included homes in Quantico and Norfolk, Virginia, Cherry Point, North Carolina, and Loveland, Colorado. Resa graduated from Thompson Valley High School in 1979, and from Colorado State University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her favorite job was at the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport, ever enthralled with aviation thanks to her pilot father.
Resa was a quirky, charming woman with a love for the countryside, dogs, good books, British comedy, rock music, and beautiful old things. She had incredible artistic talent, a wildly creative mind, and was an extraordinary mother. Resa was a kind and beautiful person inside and out. She will be forever missed.
A celebration of life was held for Resa on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the Sky View Campground Pavilion, in Loveland, CO. Following the celebration of life there was a spreading of ashes at Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park in Loveland, CO. There was a reception following the spreading of ashes at the Arruabarrena family home in Fort Collins. The family appreciates all those that were able to attend and celebrate Resa and remember her together.
