He was born November 3, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Stanley and Frances Kutin.
Robert graduated from Chicago’s Lane Tech College Prep High School in 1962. Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Oxnard Air Force Base in California for four years. His occupation at the base was Airport Control Operations, specializing in Air Traffic Control. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1966, Robert returned to Illinois to begin his civilian career at the Air Route Traffic Control Center in Aurora, just outside of Chicago.
On June 22, 1968, he married the love of his life, fellow Illinois native and air traffic controller, Cynthia Suzanne Hollarbush and settled down to start a family. In 1972, Robert and Cynthia packed their belongings and their two children and headed west to Pinewood Springs, Colorado (near Estes Park). Robert initially continued his career in Air Traffic Control, but would eventually veer off to embark on several entrepreneurial endeavors. Robert and Cynthia owned and operated several startup businesses including a video rental store in Longmont, CO and later a retail liquor store in Fort Collins, CO. He finished his career working alongside his wife as the couple established themselves as realtors in northern Colorado at The Group, Inc.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Frances, and his brother Richard. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Cynthia (Cindy), his children, Todd, and Andrea; one brother Stanley; six grandchildren, Rachel, Julia, Eva, Chase, Audrey and Ashley.
A private Funeral Mass will be held at the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, CO.
Those who knew Robert will remember him for his tenacious and heroic fight against cancer, his adventurous love for travel, his devotion to his family, and his deep care for others.
He was cherished by his family, loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
