Julie Cunningham, 78, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2022. Julie was born on November 21, 1943, in Waukegan, Illinois to Daniel and Joy Schmidt. She grew up in Zion, Illinois, and attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education.
Julie met and married her husband, Alan Cunningham, while teaching school in Zion, Illinois. In 1972 Julie and Alan moved to Colorado where they would spend the remaining years of their 50 year marriage raising three sons and establishing a legacy which will continue for generations.
Julie devoted her life to teaching and modeling the love and character of God to her sons and their families: Marc (Heidi) Cunningham, Brent (Kristen) Cunningham, and Greg Cunningham.
Julie was the owner and operator of Mrs C’s Interiors, doing residential and commercial interior design. She served on the Grand Canyon University Board of Trustees and as the Chairman of the GCU Scholarship Foundation as well as other organizations. Julie led numerous Bible Studies and was an avid host and entertainer of her friends and family.
Julie was passionately devoted to her twelve grandchildren and loved them deeply: Micah Joy, Gabriel, Reagan, Aliyah, Keaton, Brielle, Sarenna, Talan, Mason, Selah, Bentley and Aurielle.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lanny Schmidt.
