Joyce Ann Little

Joyce was born August 14, 1944 in Denver, Colorado to John and Josephine Little (now Josephine Fossett). She has one sister, Patricia Wade. Joyce and family briefly lived in Fort Collins, CO before moving to Loveland in 1949. After living in Denver and Fort Collins for short periods, her stepfather, Layton (Murf) Fossett, and the family moved to Loveland, after her stepfather was transferred there by the Bureau of Reclamation.

She graduated from Loveland High School in 1962. She received her B.A. in history from the University of Denver in 1966, and her M.A. in Eastern European Area Studies from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1968. She spent a summer studying in the Soviet Union. In 1984, she received her PhD in Systematic Theology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was involved in various honors programs throughout her entire educational journey.

From 1968-1979, Joyce returned to Denver and worked at a variety of secretarial positions before going to Marrquette. In 1983-1984, Joyce taught courses in Adult Education Programs run by Marquette University. She was a Professor of Theology at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas from 1984 until 2004.

She wrote several articles for various publications and had books published in 1988 and 1995. She was named in the Who’s Who Among America’s teachers in 2000. She enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, political buttons, and watching old TV shows. She was very fond of cats and dogs and had many throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister, Pat Wade (Jim); nephew, Josh Wade; and niece, Hilary Putman (Brian).

Joyce is proceeded in death by her mother, Josephine R. Fossett, and grandparents, Bernard and Margaret Cullen.
