Ellen Mable Baker, age 77, peacefully left her earthly life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Ellen was born on December 1, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Milford (Bud) and Rosemary Barrows. The family moved to Denver when Ellen was 4 years old. As the oldest of 9 children, she helped her mother raise and care for her siblings. This caregiving led her to pursue her childhood dream of being a nurse. Ellen received her Diploma (Registered Nurse) from Saint Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado. This opened the door to a career of helping other people as a nurse around the Denver area for over 30 years. Along the way, she met Jim and they got married and raised a family of their own. Ellen and Jim were married for nearly 57 years. After retiring with Jim to the family cabin, she became active in her church. A lifelong Catholic, she continued her life of giving by doing things for the church and helping the less fortunate. Whether it was sewing dresses for children in Africa or any of her other charitable activities, she was always giving of herself. She will be missed by her loved-ones, countless friends, co-workers and all whose lives she touched. Ellen is survived by her loving husband, James Baker; children, Kirk Baker (Michelle Ward), Aaron Baker (Terese Baker - Deceased), Jason Baker (Melissa Baker); Sister Margaret (Peggy) Barrows, Brothers; Paul Barrows, Fred Barrows, John Barrows, Mark Barrows, Tom Barrows, and Terry Barrows; grandchildren; Kelly Baker and Cassidy Baker. She is preceded by her brother Wayne Barrows. A Service of Joy and Celebration in Ellen's Memory will be held February 27th, 2023, at 10am in the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family agrees that Ellen would be honored by a donation of your choosing to a place of worship, charity, benevolent cause, assistance organization, or any person in need.
A mass of christian burial for Ellen will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th Street, Loveland, CO 80537.
