

96 of Loveland CO died on December 18, 2022 at McKee Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held on December 29th, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland CO. Pallbearers are her Grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers are her Great Grandchildren.
Arlene (Larsen) Meyer was born September 29, 1926 in their home in Lamberton Minnesota to Anton (Tony) and Anne Larsen. She was Baptized March 8th 1928 in Wanda, Confirmed at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. She graduated from LHS in 1944. Arlene attended Minneapolis Business College where she took a Junior Accounting Course. In high school Arlene was the drummer in the band, participated in school plays and sang in the choir. After graduation she was a bookkeeper at various places in Lamberton and Redwood Falls until she married Albert Louis Meyer on September 6, 1948 at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton, MN. The couple made their home in Trailerville behind Wartburg Seminary where Al was attending. They then moved to Mission TX where Al did his internship. Starting in 1951 they served in Shady Brook KS, Ashland NE, Levelland TX, Kingsville TX, Byron NE, then Ord NE at Bethany Lutheran Church where they retired in 1986 to Good Samaritan Village in Hastings NE. In 1994 they moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Loveland CO. Arlene took her duties as a Pastor’s wife true to heart, serving as secretary, organist, Sunday school teacher, bible school teacher, and song leader. She started midweek programs in many of the churches. No matter where they moved Arlene was involved with various bible study groups, women’s circles, quilting, scrapbooking, and church history. Outside of the church she was a mother of 7 children, keeping track of 7 different schedules, canning and freezing all of the gardening Al did, planning and packing for the summer family camping vacations. They were married for 56 years when Al died in October of 2004. Arlene’s activities and interests include bowling, knitting, bike riding, sewing (including sewing Humpty Dumpty pillows for all her grandkids), photography, scrapbooking, genealogy, playing piano, dancing, participating in the Good Sam Singers, participating in the Good Samaritan Village plays. She was also an avid recycler. After “retiring” Arlene worked for 34 years as a CNA with Good Sam, administering meals to patients. She also sat at the front desk of Good Sam, and helped out in the Grocery Store. She fully retired after Covid hit in 2020. Arlene was a professional Volunteer. You could count on her for just about anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tony Larsen 1988, Anne Larsen 1975, husband A.L. Meyer in 2004, grandson Steven Swiercinsky in 1975, sister Lois Olsen 2013, Son-in-law John Swiercinsky 2013, daughter Bernice Meyer 2015, and daughter Lois Swiercinsky in 2021.
Survivors include 3 daughters, 2 sons and their spouses: Ruth and Bob Orth of Diller NE, Paul and Connie Meyer of Deshler NE, James Meyer of Norfolk NE, Mary Meyer of Manhattan KS, Karen and Mike Fischer of Ord NE. Her grandchildren Michael and Stephanie Swiercinsky, Thomas Swiercinsky, Chandra (Meyer) and Dan Bombeck, Brett and Emily Meyer, Trevor Meyer, Kelly (Koster) and Shannon Stickney, Kenny Koster and Jenn Schmailzl, Jesse Meyer, Elizabeth (Fischer) and Mitch Foster, Rebecca Fischer. Great Grandchildren: Paige and Cove Swiercinsky, Carter and Brynn Bombeck, Mikayla and Blake Meyer, Deegan Lintz and Madelyn Koster. Special friend and Brother in Christ Jim Johnson of Loveland.
Arlene was happy to be able to spend her last 27 years in Al’s hometown of Loveland and especially at Good Sam with the view of the mountains that they both loved.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Good Samaritan Society and Zion Lutheran Church.
A memorial service for Arlene will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church. 815 E. 16th St., Loveland, CO 80538
After the service, there will be a reception held at the church. Followed by the burial at Resthaven Funeral Home. 8427 S. Highway 287, Fort. Collins, CO 80526
