Walter Stewart "Stu" Reichert Sr.

Walter Stewart “Stu” Reichert, Sr., passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021. Stu retired from E.L. DuPont and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He served in the Ky House of Representatives from 1964-1966 and the Ky State Senate from 1966-1974. Stu was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and was president of St. Vincent de Paul Society for several years in the early 2000’s. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, was a member of the Pope John XXIII Council, the Louisville Agriculture Club, the Louisville Engineer and Architects Club, Catholic Golden Age, and the American Legion. He was a charter member and was on the past board of directors of South Jefferson Republican Club.

Stu was preceded in death by his parents, Sauter Frank Reichert, Sr. and Alice Leona Buschmann Reichert; brother, Sauter Frank Reichert, Jr; and sister, Alice Marie Hinkebein.

Left to cherish Stu’s memory is his wife of 69 years, Ella Carolyn Reichert; children, Walter Stewart Reichert, Jr (Mary Lou), Carolyn Jean Reichert Clayton, Paul Frank Reichert (Debbie), David Lawrence Reichert (Cindy); 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many loving extended family and long time friends.

The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home – Okolona.
