Sue is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Cahoe, her two daughters and their husbands, Shannah (Jeff) Montgomery and Melena (John) Dailey and her four amazing grandsons, Luke and Sam Dailey and Ethan and Ben Montgomery.
She was born on August 16, 1947, to Raymond and Dorothy Smith Lynch. She graduated from Butler High School in 1965. Sue received a teaching degree from Kentucky Southern in 1968 and married her high school sweetheart that same year. She taught 5th grade before focusing her teaching gifts on raising her girls. She earned her real estate license and worked in various office jobs where she had the flexibility to devote her time to her favorite job–being a mom.
Sue became a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in 1969 and served in many capacities including deacon, various committees, Vacation Bible School teacher, and Sunday School teacher. She worked closely with the youth group for many years and served as a chaperone for multiple mission trips. Besides her family, her Christian faith was a primary focus of her life, and she lived out her faith through her servant heart.
Sue learned to love to travel through her husband and together they saw the world. The first major step was a huge leap of faith when Sue left her hometown of Louisville in 1995 for a 3 year post in Belgium for Jim’s job. The experience was life changing and sparked Sue’s sense of adventure. They would go on to share many trips with family and friends around the world. Some of her favorite moments were Hawaii with her daughters and their families, sharing an anniversary in Venice, and their many trips to Mexico with friends.
Sue was a terrific mother, but she was really amazing as a Grammy. Her grandsons were her pride and joy. She celebrated their talents and praised their qualities of kindness and service. They will continue her legacy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 11AM- 2PM. A celebration of Sue’s life will follow visitation beginning at 2:00PM. All services will be at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218. Sue will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
