Ruth or Ruthie, as she was called by those who knew and loved her, passed away on Monday Nov 2nd after a short illness. She was a country girl at heart, being born in Node Ky, but spent the majority of her life in Louisville.
She was the loving mother of Pam Mayberry (Don), Tina Hough (John) and Glenn Elliott (Victoria). Stepmother of JoAnn Dodson (Bill) and Shirley Jekel (Pete). Grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 13.
She owned and operate Ruthie's Tavern for 44 years and was friend and companion to many. She always made time and room at the bar to lend a sympathetic ear and open her warm heart. She met no strangers, only friends she hadn't met. She was a giving, caring and kind person to all and if you had the privilege of knowing her you should consider yourself blessed.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 1 pm on Saturday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with Bishop Wilkerson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Presiding. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Mausoleum.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 pm and from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus of Louisville, who made her finals days so comfortable. Online condolences may be shared with the family at, www.archlheadysouthernfh.com.
