Ronald Hayes Pittenger

He was a retired police officer and Detective with Louisville Metro Police Department for 22 years. He was the former co-owner of Big O Tires in St. Matthews for 19 years.

He served in the National Guard, was a former Director of Toys for Tots, former secretary for the FOP, and was well known for his annual Christmas party for retired police officers and their families.

Ronald was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Prospect and had been baptized at Grace Emmanuel Church as a child.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; the late Ralph Hayes Pittenger and Lucille Sullivan Pittenger. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Pittenger; his children, Ronald Jeffrey Pittenger (Leslie) of Avon, Indiana, Jennifer Pittenger Rapp of Louisville, Stephanie Pieroni (Andy) of Atlanta, and Scott Tincher (Kristen) of Louisville; sisters Nancy Wallace (Allen) and Judy Voll (Alvin); grandchildren Brandon Pittenger (Grace), Blake Pittenger, Michael Pittenger, Zachary Rapp, Garrett Rapp, Madelyne Pieroni, William Pieroni, Hadley Tincher; and his great-granddaughter Adeline.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4pm to 7pm.

In lieu of customary expressions of sympathy the family has requested memorial gifts to Hosparus.
