Robert Gene Thrasher, Sr. a veteran of the United States Marines and longtime resident of Valley Station, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2022. Kilsey, as he was known to many in the area, was born on August 3, 1928 to Billie Brown and Anna (Broyles) Thrasher.
Robert retired from Parrot Cleaners in 1990. He was an avid golfer and member of Chenoweth Golf Course. When he wasn’t on the course, he was found practicing with friends at The Driving Range on Dixie Highway. In his later years you could find Kilsey at Derby City Gaming or enjoying dinner on Thursday nights with his family at La Carreta.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, brothers William and Joseph, sister Margaret, 2 sons, Robert Jr (Bose) and Steve Thrasher. He’s survived by his brother, Ben Thrasher, his children, Mike (Monica), Terry (Becky), Mark (Deborah), Alvin, Emily, and Amy. As well as 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and his faithful 4-legged companion “LD”.
Robert's funeral will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 12 noon at Advantage Funeral home Hardy Chapel 10907 Dixie Hwy., burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 2-8 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM to the service time at the funeral home.
