Robert Ray Boehm

Born March 22, 1935 in Monclo West Virginia to Gilmer and Jane Jarvis Boehm, he was one of seven children.

Ted served in the United States Army at the 'invitation' of Uncle Sam. He was trained as a heavy equipment operator at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, but served his hitch as Company Clerk for the Base Commander at Fort Devons, Massachusetts.

Ted is well-known in Louisville as the former principal of Louisville Male Traditional High School, with two tenures spanning 18 years (1979-1992, 2009-2013). He also held various positions (teacher, sports coach, guidance counselor, and assistant principal) at Ashland KY High School as well as at Louisville high schools Iroquois, Atherton, Ahrens and Fern Creek. He was very well-loved because of his devotion to all of his students and their parents as well as teachers and staff. Ted was an avid sports fan, always enjoying the games from the coaching perspective.

Until his move to Missouri, Ted was a long-time member of Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville, serving in multiple church positions from Chairman of the Deacons, handyman, usher, advisor to Nursery Worker. He loved his church and church family very much.

Upon his move to Missouri, he and Beverly joined the Murray Lane Baptist Church where he had another wonderful church family.

Thanks to the staff and employees as well as the residents at Westfield Nursing Center/Daybreak Nursing Center, where Ted was a resident for the last three-and-a-half months.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as one sister Lucille Day and four brothers Harold, Bill, Ezra and Sam Boehm. He was also preceded in death by his wife Loretta Fink Boehm.

Ted is survived by his wife, Beverly Jackson Boehm of Sikeston MO, one brother, David Boehm (Margaret) of Chesapeake VA, his two children, Steve Boehm (Manuela) of Glen Burnie, MD and Leah Boehm of Louisville, as well as two grandsons Jason and Jordan Boehm. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, stepchildren and step grandchildren, as well as sisters- and brothers-in-law across the country.

Visitation will be held from 4-9 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road Louisville KY 40222. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Rd. Louisville KY 40241 with visitation starting at church after 9am the day of the funeral. Entombment will follow immediately after at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westport Road Baptist Church-Missions, Male Traditional High School-Alumni Association or the Male Traditional High School - Scholarship Fund.
