Pervis Wesley (Bob) Braden, 95, of Louisville, Ky passed away on October 16, 2022. He was born on August 8, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his Father, Fred Marshall Braden, his mother, Nannie Belle Shields, his wife of 31 years Mary Rose (Sadie) Riggs and his son, Frank Braden.
He served as a Boatswain Mate in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater, worked in the early 1950’s at Mengel Furniture Company crafting inlaid tables and consoles. Later he joined the assembly line at Ford Motor Company on Algonquin Parkway, transferring later to the Fern Valley Rd. Truck Plant location where he retired after 32 years.
Along the way, he used his carpentry skills to work on many personal and community projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family with a rousing 'game night' or storytelling of his many adventures during the War. In his thirty’s he became a Square Dance Caller eventually serving 9 clubs and participating in many local festival events such as the Pegasus Parade.
For over 20 years, he enjoyed cycling, working out (put us to shame!) and his can-do attitude.
Bob is survived by his life partner, Dixie Towles; his children Nora Pritchett (Alan), Peggy Young (George), Sandra Hartlieb (Ronald), Robert Braden (Jane), Bibiana Richardson (Jim), Dixie Braden, Harry Braden, Jeff Braden (Karam) and Rick Braden. He had 13 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great-great Grandchildren.
There will be a memorial visitation from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM on October 31, 2022 at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home on Preston Highway.
Following visitation there will be a Celebration of Joy Ceremony with burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at Fort Knox.
