Peter Jan Fenger, born October 16, 1961, died in Jeffersontown, KY, on December 18, 2014. He was born in Homer, AK, to Grace Marie Fenger and John Berg Fenger, both deceased. Peter moved with his family to Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, and then Bothell, WA, before settling in Paradise Valley, AZ in 1968. He graduated from Chaparral High School and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University, and he also served in the Military Police of the U.S. Army while stationed in Panama. Peter married Denice Phillips in 1986 and together they moved to Kentucky soon thereafter.
Peter is survived by his wife, Denice Diane Phillips Fenger, of Irvine, KY; brother, Eric Fenger of Homer, AK; sister, Heidi Jahnke of Scottsdale, AZ; six nephews, Kurt and Thomas Jahnke, Zac and Ben Sorrell, Sam Powers, and Josh Phillips; and five nieces, Mollie Jahnke, Julianna and Emily Sorrell, Megan Powers, and Katherine Phillips; and his beloved Uncle and namesake, Peter Fenger, of Hamburg, NY. Peter was a kind and sweet man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service for Peter will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, in the Stained Glass Chapel of the Valley Presbyterian Church at 6947 E. McDonald Drive in Paradise Valley, AZ. A reception at the Church for family members will immediately follow the Chapel service.
