Paul D. Schrader (N4XM), age 85, passed away on May 24, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn J. (Sullivan) Schrader, and survived by his daughter Rebecca L. (Schrader) Pifine.
Paul started college at 14 years of age and graduated with a 5 year Bachelors of Electrical Engineering degree at age 19 from the University of Louisville. He had 2 Masters Degrees and was inventor of the patented "XMatch" Antenna Tuner. He also had several other patents owned by former employers. He worked for Hughes Aircraft in California after college and then moved back to Louisville, KY for the remainder of his life. He retired from the Army Corp of Engineers.
He loved Amateur Radio and spent his life enjoying the hobby. He talked to people all over the world and to the Space Shuttle in space. He won contests and awards in Amateur Radio. It was his passion.
A visitation for Paul will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11AM to 2PM followed by a funeral service at 2PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. Paul will be laid to rest privately within Resthaven Memorial Park.
