He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in China, Burma, India, and retired employee from BF Goodrich. Pete had a lifelong passion for golf even though numerous health issues severely limited his play.
He was a loving father and grandfather.
Pete is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Vennie Alvey Garrett and son, Steven Williams.
He is survived by his daughter, Becky McCandless; son, David Williams (Jackie); daughter-in-law, Diane Williams; grandchildren, Michelle Twyman (Vince), Cindy Hazelip (Rob), Carey Klain, Eric Williams (Gayle), Jennifer Hernandez (Tony); 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister, Norma Doss.
Funeral service will be 10am on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for the public will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
