Mary E. Powell

POWELL, MARY ELIZABETH "LIBBY," 84, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Twinbrook Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born October 17, 1927 in Elkton, KY. She was the daughter of Selton and Jermie Mallory. In addition, Libby worked at Doss High School and the Old Naval Ordnance Credit Union and she was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church. The family would like to give special thanks to Twinbrook Nursing Home and Hosparus for their kind and loving care. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, J. G. Mallory and her husband, Artie W. Powell. Libby leaves her children to cherish her memory, a son, Michael L. Powell (Denise); daughter, Michele Heuser; granddaughter, Mallory Hollis (Todd); a new great-grandson, Luke Michael Holis; step-grandson, Jaelin Banet; four sisters, Earlene Hall, Peggy Phelps, Sandra Groves and Linda Groves; two brothers, Cecil Mallory, Jr. and J.C. Mallory; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be noon on Thursday at Epworth United Methodist Church, 919 Palatka Road with entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at O. D. White and Sons Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to her church.
