Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Kyle earned his BA in Percussion Performance from Slippery Rock University. He participated in a range of large and small ensembles including the Marching Pride, the Steel Pan Band, and Jazz Ensemble. He also participated in recordings by the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Sextet.
He moved to Louisville in 2012, after teaching for years, Kyle found a new passion for cooking and food. He spent years working in many kitchens across Louisville, growing into a Corporate Chef for a local brewery. His passion for food service allowed him to experience unique opportunities like competing in the Windy City Smokeout, teaching instructional courses for the public, and being featured in Food & Dining Magazine.
When not working, Kyle could be found socializing with friends, attending concerts, and watching his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams.
Kyle was a vibrant personality with a passion for meeting new people. It was always clear when Kyle was in a room because his boisterous voice and laugh could cut through a noisy crowd. If lucky enough, anyone in that room could be on the receiving end of one of his famous 45-minutes-long stories. Connection to people was his favorite part of each day. Being able to learn from others and share his experiences from chatting with patrons or strangers he met is what he valued the most in life.
Kyle is survived by his parents (Tim & Donna), Sister (Kaitlin), Brother-In-Law (Cory), Girlfriend (Shelbye), Purr-buddy (Milo), Nieces and Nephew (Bella, Elias, and Little Debbie). As well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 4pm on January 7th at Kaiju 1004 E. Oak Street Louisville, KY 40204. Wear your favorite hoodie and T-shirt in honor of Kyle.
