Kevin Mark Burns, 55, of Louisville passed away on July 5, 2022. He was born on April 2, 1967 in Jeffersonville, IN to Eranelle Marie Inscoe Burns and the late Wilbert J.O. Burns. Left to cherish Kevin’s memory are his wife of 33 years Kimberlee Gayle Burns, son Brennen Burns, mother Eranelle Burns, brothers; Bryan (Debra) Burns and Gary Burns, as well as nieces; Mandy (Jonathan) Lenz and Kari (Matthew) Bird.
Kevin was a graduate of both Ball State University and the University of Louisville. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design, and a Master’s in Business Administration. Kevin was a registered architect in a total of 26 states. Kevin co-founded Architectural Investments in 1994 and other companies AI Real Estate and AI Property later in life. Some of his favorite designs were the home office for Metro Urology and Heart Land Payment Systems.
On Kevin’s 16th birthday he met Kimberlee Harless who pretended to enjoy college basketball just to spend more time with him. The two haven’t left each other’s side since that day. Kevin has been a member of Highland Presbyterian Church for 30 years and had been involved intimately in so many ways in the congregation’s life. He has served several terms as an elder and was currently a member of the Session at the time of his death. He was serving as the Co-Moderator of the Pastor Nominating Committee and was part of the Mission Study team last year that helped prepare the ministry of Highland for the coming decade. From nearly the moment he set foot on Highland’s campus, he had been a supportive, caring, and energetic leader of the youth program of the church. Recently, a youth space was dedicated in the Pleune-Mobley building as the Kevin and Kimberlee Burns Center for Youth Ministry.
