Joseph J. Koenig, Jr., 102, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in Roswell, GA. He was born in Louisville, KY on December 9, 1915 to Joseph and Barbara Koenig. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Catherine (“Kay”), his sister, Barbara Bryant, and brother, George Koenig.
Joe served in the Navy during World War II and retired from the Naval Ordinance. He was an avid fisherman who loved nature as well as traveling. In fact, Joe and Kay visited every State in the US during their 68-year marriage. Joe was a kind, humble man and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Grennan (David) and son, Keith Koenig (Paula).
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on Thursday, February 8, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
