He was born November 17, 1930 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, the son of Joe and Jesse (Russell) Hardy, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leta Hardy; one son, Bruce Hardy; two brothers and one sister.
Joe was a US Air Force Veteran and had worked in Sales at Overnite Transport for many years. He was a member of New Life Church where he was a former Deacon and Chairman of Ushers, Building and Grounds.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Sharon Black (Garey) and Theresa Hardy; two grandchildren, Ashley and Randi Black; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Black and Samantha Tupts.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at New Life Church, 3402 Goose Creek Rd. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place privately at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
