He was retired from Pepsi Co after 39 years of service. He was a proud graduate of Stuart High School, class of 1978.
He viewed parenthood as his greatest gift in life and being a grandparent brought him immense joy. He was a Dad and Buf that celebrated everything. His ability to make people laugh was unmatched and he was unselfish about sharing that talent with his friends and family.
He was passionate about sports and could often be found in his chair at a ballpark or court where his grandkids were playing. One of his favorite pastimes was watching UK sports, the Oakland Raiders, and the Boston Red Sox. He read anything he could get his hands on. His green thumb was on display in his vegetable garden and in his landscaping. He was always the first to hit the dance floor. He loved to eat Burger King. Hunting and fishing were a hobby he shared with family and friends.
He was loved by the Valley Station community. He coached hundreds of kids in football, basketball, softball, and baseball in his time on Earth. The players who were coached by him spoke fondly of his calm demeanor, his sense of humor, and his patience in helping them learn new skills. His friends loved to hear him tell stories, reminisce about high school football, and hear him talk about his kids.
He was a man that you could count on in a pinch. He was someone everyone wanted in their corner. The world was a better place with him in it.
He is preceded in death by his father James H. Ziegler.
He is survived by his four children, Valarie Moore (GJ), Jake Ziegler, Tori Reynolds (Nick), and Nolan Ziegler (Kinley Kaelin), his grandchildren, London Luckett, Colton Ziegler, Finley Reynolds, Ethan Moore, and Ella Moore, his brothers, Danny (Donna), George (Sue Ellen), and Craig, his mother, Georganna Albinus, his nieces and nephews, and so many friends.
He insisted that his children leave everyone with these parting words, “Did Louisville Win?”
