He graduated from St. X High School, then served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Jim retired from the US postal service after 42 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Tilton.
Jim is survived by his children, Janice Alvey (Greg), Jim Jr., William and Joseph. He's also survived by seven grandchildren, Chris Tilton (Carolyn), Kayleigh Capriles (Raul), Erika Kennedy, Lindsey Carter (Jordan), Karley Capps (Zack), Danny Tilton, Jack Tilton. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Graycen, Elin, Benjamin, Isabella, Charlotte, Mary Charlotte, Dillon, Griffon; sisters, Barbara Jo Ziegler (Irv), Carol Sweat (Wayne) and Maria Bell (Greg).
Visitation will be held from 3-9pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village. A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 with visitation starting after 9am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
