James M. "Jim" Smith

James M. “Jim” Smith 80, passed away December 29, 2020. Jim attended Holy Spirit grade school, graduated from Trinity High School in 1958 and is a retiree of Cummins Cumberland. He had a passion for music and played guitar in multiple bands throughout his life. For recreation, he loved going on camping trips with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert “Bobby” Smith.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years JoAnn McHugh Smith, children Debbie Shelton (Joe), Dan Smith (Agnese), Tom Smith (Tobi) and Julie Riggs (Stephen) and grandchildren Alyssa Biven, Eric Biven, Noah Shelton, Keely Smith, Daniel Smith, Ben Smith, Caroline Smith, Alexa Smith, Cade Smith, Melanie Riggs, Adam Riggs, Samantha Riggs and Annie Grace Riggs. He is also survived by his brother Donald Smith (Sarah), sister-in-law Jane Smith and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A service to honor the life of Jim will be held Saturday, January 9th at 12pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will begin Friday, January 8th from 4-7pm in the funeral home and will resume Saturday at 10am until the start of the funeral.
