He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helen Smith; children, Betty Dennis, Chris Schardein(Bill), Jim Smith Jr.(Judy), Dot Thurman(Dan), Paul Smith(Vickie), Wayne Smith(Teri), and Mike Smith; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Jack Smith(Phyllis); sisters, Lucille Wimsatt, Ruth Cassidy, and Edna Wells(Charles); and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be at 10am Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Athanasius Catholic Church at 5915 Outer Loop with entombment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home.
