James Allan Gambert, of Pickerington, OH passed away on February 25, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born in Louisville, KY and grew up in the Schnitzelburg/ Germantown area. He graduated from St. Elizabeth Grade School, St. Xavier High School, Bellarmine University and took postgraduate courses at the Ohio State University, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the Harvard Business School.
He worked 41 years in the military logistics career field starting with the Air Force Logistic Command at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH and subsequently with the Defence Logistics Agency in Dayton, OH and Columbus, OH, retiring as a Director. After retirement he bought, sold, and managed some rental properties, closely followed and invested in the stock market, and loved to personally maintain his vehicles and follow auto racing events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Leona (Lattis) Gambert, and by two children who died shortly after birth, Stephen Charles and Monica Sue. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sherron Ann, and by four children, Jennifer Lynn Kerns (Jeff), Monica Angela, Mary Bernadette, and Kyle James (Morgan), and by stepson Benjamin Hoehler (Amy). In addition are 7 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Reynoldsburg (OH) Community Church for the last 23 years of his life.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the American Red Cross in James's honor.
A visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 2PM to 4PM. A memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. James will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
