He was a loving and devoted husband survived by his wife Marilyn (Morse) of 46 years. Beloved father of Angela Caudill and Tamara Caudill Pfeiffer, beloved Granddad of Eric Caudill (Leigh Anne) and Allison Pfeiffer (Morgan), and Great-Granddad to Nolan. He was preceded in death by his brothers Larry and Charles and is survived by his sister Helen (Remus Wooten) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Atherton High School in 1954, attended Centre College, Cumberland College and the University of Louisville for his undergraduate, and received his Masters from Western Kentucky University. Sports were the dominant force in his life, playing football and baseball all through school. Later, he enjoyed golf and was an avid U of L athletics fan. Cap taught P.E. at Gilmore Lane and Wheeler Elementary Schools for 28 years. Gymnastics was his specialty and he coached hundreds of aspiring gymnasts, some of whom went on to become Regional, State and National World Class Gymnasts, coaches and judges. Cap served on the National Coaching Staff, served as the Kentucky State Chairman, and on numerous boards, state and nationwide. Cap also enjoyed working at Louisville Athletic Club, where he never met a stranger and made lasting friends. Cap was a member of Watkins United Methodist Church, having grown up in Audubon Park Methodist. Cap touched many lives, either as “Cap”, “Coach” or Mr. C.
A memorial service will be held at Watkins United Methodist Church on July 23, 2022 at 1pm.
A fund in his name is forthcoming with the University of Louisville where memorial donations can be made.
