Jack Melvin Best, 86, of Louisville passed away August 20, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East. He was born on October 27, 1925 to the late Chester and Margaret Levine Best. He was a pressman for Fawcett-Haynes Printing Company and was retired from John W. Welker Plumbing. He was a member of the Methodist faith and was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Chester R. Best.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris M. Best; children, Gary L. Best Sr. (Anna) and Paula M. Hasting (Tony); five grandchildren, Gary Best Jr., Melissa Ann Davis, Cynthia Marie Drake, Heather M. Vogt and Holly L. Hasting; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Margie Clark (Roy).
A celebration of his life will be conducted Friday, August 24, 2012 at Noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
