Ida was born on August 16, 1943 in Louisville, to the late Mike and Edith Schuler. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Bill, Harold, and George Schuler, and Aline and Eva Howie. Ida is survived by her husband of 57 years, Elmer D. Strode; and sisters, Doris Rutledge, Elizabeth Faye Stevens and Helen Keller.
Ida leaves behind a selfless memory; she always was concerned about everyone’s wellbeing and put their needs a head of her own. She was compassionate, sincere, and didn’t take things too serious; always making time to be silly. She was strong in her faith. Elmer and Ida were saved and baptized 15 years ago at Becker Drive Missionary Baptist Church and they have kept their church family close ever since. Ida was also a hard worker; she retired from Peyton Inc. as a Bookkeeper after many years of employment. Ida will be remembered as a lot of things by many people, but the most important thing is that Ida loved and cherished her family and friends and they felt the same way towards her; she will be truly missed.
Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Wednesday, May 22nd at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown. A service in honor of Ida’s life will be held at 12pm on Thursday, May 23rd at the funeral home, with the burial taking place in Resthaven Memorial Park. At the family’s request, expressions of sympathy may be directed toward her church, Becker Drive Missionary Baptist, 8910 Ferndale Road, Louisville, KY 40291.
