Howard A. Draper Jr. (Chip), 71, passed away Saturday, November 24th, at Hillcreek Rehabilitation and Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Howard A. Draper Sr. and Nancy Burton Draper, his sister Carol Jurgenson, and her husband Ed Jurgenson. His survivors include his brother, Harry (Burt) Draper and wife Jeannie, and his sister Nancy Bormann and husband Bob. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Chip was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D. C., and as an army brat, lived in Washington D.C., Georgia, California, Arizona, Austria, and Okinawa before moving to Louisville with his family at age ten. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Journalism. Chip started his sports writing career in Evansville, Indiana and his last job was at the Buffalo Courier Express. He covered professional sports teams in Buffalo, including the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Braves. Chip also served in the Army Reserves for six years. Cremation was chosen, and the memorial will be scheduled at a future date. Chip was an avid reader and sports enthusiast.
