Helen Jones Johnson entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 24, 2015. She was 98. She was born in Butler County, KY, lived on her grandfather's farm, and graduated in 1935 as valedictorian from Reedyville High School. She worshiped her Savior at Baptist Tabernacle, and served Him by teaching the second grade Sunday school class for 20 years. She worked in the Children's Training Union Department and Vacation Bible School for many years. She learned that God loved all people through her work with the Women's Missionary Union. Helen cherished the many friends she had in her church family. They enriched her life.
Her husband of 40 years, Leroy Johnson and her son, Jerry Lee Johnson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Johnson; son, Ken Johnson(Janice); grandsons, Adam Johnson and Andrew Johnson(Danielle); 2 great-granddaughters, Sophie and Fiona Johnson; sister, Lucille Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was a wonderful mother, a supportive sister, and a special aunt. Her family will remember her with love.
Funeral service will be 10am Monday, November 30, 2015 at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Michael Troy Shell will officiate. Visitation will be 2-8pm Sunday.
The Johnson family expresses their appreciation to the wonderful people at Heartsong Memory Care for their loving care and concern for Helen while she was on her long journey with dementia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Heartsong Employee Appreciation Fund.
