Gertrude Nalley

Mary Gertrude Nalley (84) died Sunday, March 27, 2011 in Louisville, KY. She was the eldest daughter of Lester Anthony and Mary Elizabeth Beyke Nalley. Born May 16, 1926 in the Portland neighborhood in Louisville, she grew up in Sorgho, Kentucky on the family farm. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Owensboro, KY in 1945. She worked 45 years in accounting at Sears Roebuck in Owensboro, KY, Bloomington, IN, and Louisville, KY.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph ,Theodore , Eugene, and James Edward (infant) Nalley; and sisters Theresa Nalley and Dorothy Bittel.

She is survived by sisters Wanda Feller, Louisville, KY; Camillia Baker, Utica, KY; and brother Gerald (Joyce), Owensboro, KY.

She never married but was a dear and special “Aunt Gertie” to her sixteen nieces and nephews: Kevin (Becky) Nalley, Bloomington, IN; Christopher Nalley, Staten Island, NY; Mike Swift, Leitchfield, KY; Theresa Feller, Richard Feller, Mary Keswani, Michele Bryant (Robert), Edward Feller, all of Louisville; Judy Patton (Ken), Owensboro, KY; Christy, Eric, and Aaron Bittel of Owensboro, KY; Robert Nalley, Evansville, IN; Rhonda Hoffman, Owensboro, KY; Monica (David) Mattingly, Whitesville, KY; Patricia (Charles) Payne, Beaver Dam, KY. She also greatly loved her twenty-one great nieces and nephews. Gertrude was a life- long Catholic and was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She loved counted cross-stitch, making candy for holidays, and sending and receiving greeting cards for every occasion.

Visitation will be at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at 8519 Preston Highway from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31.; funeral Mass will be at St. Rita Catholic Church at 8709 Preston Highway at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro, KY. , 2:30 P.M. EST .
