Gary was the inspiration and reason many of us run the miles we do. Probably wouldn’t have run the trails if it wasn’t for him. Lots of good memories, parties and Gary jokes

Mimosas, beer, food, 25 mile bike ride, and a bike wreck that Holly will never live down. 

Gary and Holly opened their home to us year after year for Bourbon and Beyond. Forever grateful for the time we spent together. Let’s keep it going. 

I will always remember the late nights working on this car and hanging with you in the shop laughing and talking for hours! While Moe ran around with his hot wheels and you letting him get into everything! I’m going to miss all the great times and your hilarious sense of humor! You sure will be missed buddy!

Another weak ankle moment. 1 day Post Yamacraw 2022. Gary had an ankle the size of a large grapefruit. Somehow he hiked his way down this rocky slope so everyone could swim and have beers together. He told quite a few inappropriate jokes that day.

Post race beers with Gary “weak ankles” Sturgill. Lovin the Hills 15 degrees. Gary twisted his ankle. I hiked while everyone else ran. I found him in the car and we had breakfast beers while waiting on everyone to finish. 

You were a second dad to me and I will forever be grateful for everything you did with me and for me. I will miss you dearly Gar-ro.

We did everything together. No one could ever ask for a better friend. You are going to be greatly missed by myself and everyone who knows you.

I met Gary in basic training, we went to tech school and our first base in Altus, Oklahoma together. The time I spent with Gary in the Air Force was some of the best times of my life.

May you rest in peace old friend, you will be missed. 

Lord have mercy, this is such a shock. I pray that the Lord will give you strength and guide you through this. Unfortunately I won’t be able to come to the celebration as I am recovering from a surgery I had last week. Love and prayers to you all.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Glenna Sturgill.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jacquelyn Sturgill, Jordan Sturgill, Stephanie Pickett; life partner, Holly Davis and her daughter, Ali Davis; grandchildren, Owen, Adrienna, Alexander; siblings, Pamela Ledrick, Sandy Allen, Bruce Sturgill; and many loving family members and friends.
