Frank A. Varner Sr.

Frank A. Varner was born 11-29-1929 in Grandview, IN. Graduated from Christney High School in 1947. Graduated from Indiana University School of Business in 1951. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the ROTC. After graduation he was commissioned at Fort Knox for 2 years and transitioned to civilian life and worked for Consolidated Freightways trucking company. He continued serving his country in the Air Force Reserves for the next 26 years and retired as Lt. Colonel.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy. Survived by his sister Mary Jane Smith, and his children Frank A. Varner Jr, Garry Varner, Dwight A. Varner (Paula), Victoria L. Campbell (Philip), Valerie V. Bostock (Doug), 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Frank enjoyed traveling, and seeing and learning about new places. He enjoyed connecting with family and friends on Facebook. Enjoyed going to McDonald’s and Dairy Queen to meet up with the guys for coffee and conversation. He was a history/military buff. He liked watching basketball and football games with family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday July 10, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2023 at 10am at the funeral home with burial to follow.
