Born to the late Willis Oscar Britt and Mollie Kinslow Britt, Evelyn is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Edward Ritchie; her son, Larry Ritchie; and her sister, Jane McGuire. She is survived by two grandchildren, Shawn Ritchie with wife Ashley Ritchie, and Robert Ritchie; great-grandchildren Sierra Ritchie, Nolan Ritchie, and Kassidy Ritchie; and cousin Bill D. Carver.
Evelyn’s nearly centennial life started on her family farm in Austin, Kentucky, where she was raised in the hardships of the Great Depression. At age 18, she moved to Louisville, an adventure that became shaped by World War II. She packed ammo at a munitions factory during the war effort.
Post-war, Evelyn met and settled down with her husband. They raised one son. Widowed too soon, she went back to work to raise Larry, later retiring from American Tobacco and Phillip Morris. In retirement, she dedicated her time to her grandchildren, and later, her great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Arch L.
