Elva A. Stockdale (Keatting), 102, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2018. She was born on November 18, 1915 in Louisville, KY to William L. Keatting and Lyda Adelaide (Collins) Keatting. Elva graduated from Shawnee High School and the Louisville Bryant & Stratton School of Business. She worked for 31 ½ years as a secretary for the Veteran’s Administration and was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God. In her early years, Elva enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, square dancing and hiking.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John, and three siblings, Verna Lyons, William Keatting and Richard Keatting. Elva is survived by her sister Adelaide Long (Robert), sister in-law, Frances Keatting and nieces and nephews, Edward Lyons (Mary Louise), Susan Lyons, Dr. Robert Long (Susan), Blake Long (Miriam), Bill Keatting, Adrianne Harmon (Tom), Rosalie Schuler, Gary Keatting, David Keatting (Vicki), Angela Csizmadia (Dan) and Ted Keatting as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Elva’s caregiver, Evie Norfleet, for her dedication and loving care. Visitation will take place from 2-4pm Sunday, March 25th at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A service to celebrate Elva’s life will be held at 12pm, Monday March 26th at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
