Eleen “Nines” Verville, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at Baptist Health Palliative Care Unit in Louisville, KY Friday, February 13th, 2015. She was 95 years old. Mrs. Verville was born on January 20,1920 in Hancock, MI to parents Joe and Cele Watson.
She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN with a degree in Medical Record Science. Mrs. Verville began her career as a Medical Record Librarian intern at Yale University in New Haven, CT. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernard J. Verville, a Mechanical Engineer and US Naval Lieutenant, in 1943. They moved to Maysville, KY in 1948 when Mr. Verville joined his brothers, Arch, Fran and Milt Verville in the family business - Verville Construction Company.
In later years Mrs. Verville worked at Hayswood Hospital in Maysville.
Mrs. Verville’s greatest joy in life was her family and her friends. She was an avid reader, bridge player and homemaker. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church, Maysville Garden Club and the Mason County Homemakers Club. Mrs. Verville also shared her love of children by volunteering at the Lee Memorial Hospital PPEC Children's Critical Care Facility in Ft. Myers, FL.
In 1986, Mr. and Mrs. Verville moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where they enjoyed their retirement for many years. After Mr. Verville’s death in 2005, Mrs. Verville moved back to Maysville and later relocated to Louisville, KY to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Verville is survived by 3 sons, Tom (Jackie) – Evansville, IN , Paul (Barb) – Maysville, KY, Steve (Renee) – Ft. Myers, FL and 5 daughters, Barbara Cutter,(Ron-deceased) – Louisville, KY, Marcia Walker (John) – Frankfort, KY, Diane Verville – Louisville, KY, Joann Long (Steve) – Cincinnati, OH and Pam Bloemker (Dale) – Louisville, KY. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Bernard and her brother, Joseph “Bud” Watson.
A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Patrick Church in Maysville on Saturday, February 21st with visitation at 10:00 am and Mass at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome.
The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Kenneth Anderson, Director, Sharon Ruhl, Nurse Practitioner and all the Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants of the Baptist Palliative Care Unit who so expertly and compassionately cared for Mrs. Verville.
