She and her husband, Bill, were married in Hart, Michigan. They moved to Louisville with their five children in 1972. Eddie became a member of Saint Albert the Great Catholic Parish where she met many lifelong friends.
She stayed home to raise five children and then had a full career as Director of Publications for Mercer-Meidinger for 20 years. Eddie enjoyed Supper Club, golfing, and playing bridge. She was known for her fashion sense and love of shopping.
Eddie was an amazing role model for her children and grandchildren. Her faith in God was displayed through her kindness and compassion towards others. She was an active member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Parish, participating in the church choir for many years. She and Bill were members of The Saint Al’s Aces and enjoyed the many activities that were offered. Eddie’s heaven on earth was her family’s favorite vacation spot, Pentwater Michigan, where she loved the lake, beach and sand.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Purdy (Sue), Laura Purdy Morrissey (John), Mike Purdy (Jenny), Diane Purdy Laspiur (Ernesto) and Sarah Purdy Coomes, her 14 grandchildren; Sean, Andy, Jamie, Alex, Spencer, Jayson, Michaela, Maria, Elizabeth, Miguel, Sofia, Thomas, Will and Trey, and her great grandchildren; Zwade, Lincoln, Halle and Lou.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, three sisters, Margaret, Grace, and Marilyn, and parents, Zella and Ward Dittmar.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10 from 4-8pm at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, Kentucky 40222.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40222, . Her burial will be at a later date in Hart, Michigan.
