Donald J. Cassady (Don), age 92, of Louisville, Kentucky entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday February 6, 2024, at Glen Ridge Health Campus. He is preceded in death by his wife (mother to their seven children) Winona LeSeure Cassady, his parents Phyllis and Richard Cassada, and his sons-in-law George Neumann and Robert Gillis.
Don was a Christian and a passionate follower of Christ. He attended the University of Illinois on a golf scholarship plus ROTC and Army commitment, graduating with a BA in Journalism. Lieutenant Donald J. Cassady proudly served his country as an Army Veteran in Korea. He worked many years as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch in Louisville, Kentucky. He then moved to Florida where he established an interior decorating business, Residential Interiors, in North Palm Beach. After retirement, he served many other veterans as a visiting volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. Don was an avid and dedicated scratch golfer for much of his life, a past member of The Thoroughbreds barbershop quartet with his close friend Jim Miller, and very much enjoyed saltwater fishing, but his greatest joy came through sharing his faith which often began with one single phrase… “tell me your story.”
Don is survived by his children Donna Neumann (Jeff McDonald), Randy Cassady (Margaret), Linda Gillis, Sandra Neutz (Karl), Cynthia Head (Michael), James Cassady (June), and John Cassady (Susie); eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Don also leaves behind the entire staff of Glen Ridge Health Campus who loved and compassionately cared for him in the final months of his life.
Don chose cremation. His family will privately celebrate his life.
Expressions of sympathy can be made through a donation to The Salvation Army and to the Trilogy Health Services Foundation.
