David M. Brown

David Michael Brown, 76, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the VA Hospital. Dave was born in Warrington, England on May 21, 1946 to the late Clarence and Doris Illidge Brown. He was indisputably known as the "number one son" because he came over on the boat with his mother after World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Allison Mary, a brother, Steven Anthony, a nephew Troy, and a niece, Torea. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon (Clements) Brown and three children, Mary Allison, Benjamin Edward (Nam-Ha), and Hattie Jo Brown. He was blessed with three grandchildren Finlay Viet, Luca Van, and Milo Lam Brown. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Papaw).

He is also survived by brothers Kenny (Teresa), Chris (Rebecca), Mark and sisters, Beverly Vincent, Andrea Bellis (Bill), Ollie Jones (Donnie), Mary Recktenwald, and sister-in-law, Glinda Brown. Finally, he is survived by 41 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Early in life he was very active playing multiple sports including Volleyball, softball, and fishing. He had numerous friends with an active social life. Later in life he became more of a family man enjoying spending time with his family.

He was Catholic and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Dave was a Vietnam Veteran and loved his country. Thanks to Dave, the postal dude, many of you received your mail on time, rain, snow or shine. He loved nature, particularly on a lake bass fishing. His pride was a 10.5lb bass fish he caught on one of his many trips to Florida. He also loved to play the horses spending many Saturdays perusing the Racing forms and placing bets. He was compassionate for people in need and loved all of God's creatures. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Visitation will occur on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2-8PM and Monday, May 8th from 9:00-9:30AM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Fern Creek, 5503 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40291, with Fr. Jithin, on Monday, May 8th at 10 AM. Dave will be laid to rest within Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Rd. Louisville, KY 40205.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of masses for the repose of his eternal soul. Charitable contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
