Christina Rose Elder, 78, passed away October 27, 2022. Born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1944, she grew up in the Portland area and later moved to Pleasure Ridge Park where she graduated from PRP High School in 1962. She received her Associates degree from Jefferson Community College Southwest where she then became a financial aid advisor for the students attending the college until her retirement.
Chris loved music. When she was a teenager, she sang in the church choir. She taught her daughter how to "do the hustle" and made her go to a Barry Manilow concert when she was twelve years old. Music was always on in the home, or in the car. Chris loved every animal. She would feed raccoons, cats, and any stray animal that would come to her door. No matter how dry her sense of humor or direct words, she was smart, stubborn, and would do anything for those she cared for. Shopping was her favorite pastime. All employed package carriers will miss her dearly, or be grateful that they finally get a break. She will be missed by many.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Lafone and Dewey Elder of Louisville, KY, along with many dogs, cats, and other animals waiting to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Lancia(Mike) of Elizabeth, Indiana; sister, Debbie Allen(Randy) of Louisville, Kentucky; two of her "adopted" sons, Carlton McClure and Doug Recktenwald; and her three granddogs, McGee, Ryleigh, and Abby.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm Friday, November 4, 2022 at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home at 7710 Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2pm-8pm Thursday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home. Memorial donations in Chris's memory can be made to Alleycats.
