He was born in Louisville on April 26, 1924 and lived here as a resident his whole life.
After graduating from DuPont Manual High School in June of 1942, he started working for the old Jones-Dabney Company two weeks later. He entered the Army Air Force in February of 1943 and was discharged in 1946. He returned to work for Jones-Dabney and was employed until June of 1976, then started working for Reliance Universal and retired in 1988. Charlie spent a lot of time at the golf courses but never considered himself a "golfer", and he was an amatuer woodworker.
He belonged to a group of gents that were retired called the "Romeo's" - Retired Old Men Eating Out and they met often to eat breakfast at Bob Evans restaurant.
Surviving Charlie are five nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
A memorial visitation only will be 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, with private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society .
