Celina Fields passed away the evening of December 12, 2021, after a short but very brave and courageous fight against gastric cancer. She passed away at the young age of only 42 years, just three days before her 43rd birthday.
She was born December 15, 1978, in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Poland into a Catholic family. She was the second daughter of Piotr and Ursula Wodniok. She grew up in Communist Poland with a simple life, but a big focus on family & friends and a deep faith in God that would continue throughout her life. Her mother was a housewife and her father worked for the Polish State Railways until he tragically died at the age of 47 when Celina was just 22 years old. Celina completed vocational school (Polish Technikum) and worked as lifeguard before making the bold decision to move to the Netherlands in search of new opportunities.
Celina then shortly thereafter moved to Düsseldorf, Germany where she eagerly searched for, and found, many of her family members that had been separated decades earlier after World War II. It is also where she met her loving husband, Joseph Fields. Together they had two beautiful daughters Lara Ann & Jana May and they raised them in Germany until the summer of 2017. The family then moved to her husband’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
She loved to cook, travel, and spend time with her loved ones. Above all else, Celina was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She loved her family very much, especially her daughters. They were her Angels and she always wanted everything in life to be perfect for them. She is also survived by her family and friends in Poland and Germany, her mother Ursula, her sister Mariola, her Aunt Teresa & Uncle Zdzisław (Celina’s Godfather), her Uncle Günter and Cousins Sandra & Sonja, her Aunt Cecilia Panek (Celina’s Godmother), her Aunt Maria & Uncle Paul, and her very close friends Kaska, Elwira, Irena, and Sygmunt.
Celina brought a warmth and happiness to everyone around her, and she will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.
If you would like to honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, her family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Celina was very passionate about beating cancer right up until the very end and it would make her happy if one day your donation could help the lives of others that are fighting this terrible disease.

She grew up under difficult circumstances as the first eleven years of her life were under Communist rule. However, she was a very determined hard worker who had a focus on family & friends and a deep faith in God that would continue throughout her life. Her mother was a housewife and her father worked for the Polish State Railways until he tragically died at the age of 47 when Celina was just 22 years old. Celina graduated high school and went on to study at the private WSB University in the city of Wroclaw for three years until the death of her Father. She then had to move to the Netherlands in search of better employment opportunities.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
