Carol was born January 8, 1938 to the late Thomas Harry Schoedinger and Bessy Marie Franklin. Carol grew up as one of 5 families living in a historic Story Avenue home across from Grace Immanuel United Church of Christ, and spent much of her childhood there. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church with her late husband, Lou. Carol loved being outdoors. Fishing, hiking, and exploring state and national parks with Lou in their younger days inspired them to spend many of their twilight years at their peaceful cabin on Nolin Lake. Fiercely independent, organized, and with a keen eye for design, Carol expertly served as an executive secretary, in addition to being a wedding planner at St. Paul United Methodist.
These aforementioned traits led Carol to redesign her home constantly, always with results that were impressive, but not quite perfect enough for her—even when Lou disagreed. Carol’s broad smile and contagious optimism will be greatly missed.
Her survivors include nephews Russell (Cindy) and Kevin (Jennifer); nieces Robin (Kevin) and Liane (Jeff); great nephews Bradley, Brandon, Brett, and Edward; and great nieces Natalie and Ester. Preceding her in passing was her husband of 61 years, Lou Gray.
