Over the years Barbara has shown such strength, courage and grace battling cancer and many other health issues. Many thanks to everyone at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, where she passed peacefully with her extremely proud family by her side.
Survived by daughters, Laurie Wallace (Steve) and Missy Thomas, son William B. Taylor (Carrie) and husband of 55 years, David Taylor.
Barbara was born February 8, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA. She moved to Louisville from New Jersey with her family, parents, the late Donald and Lillian Strause and surviving brothers, Don and Jim Strause.
Barb also known as “Babs” graduated from Sacred Heart Academy where she excelled in field hockey and basketball. She then went on to attend St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in their nursing program.
Anyone who knows Barb, knows how artistically talented she was. From painting, singing, playing guitar and piano. Every holiday was an excuse to decorate the whole house and when it snowed there was a snowman or “snow mermaid” in the yard. One of her passions was to camp, boat and fish with her husband Dave and friends/in-laws Bill and Freda Taylor.
She was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 5.
Barbara so enjoyed her life, family, (including a host of nieces and nephews) friends and a multitude of pets throughout the years. To say she will be missed is an understatement. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. Visitation will be from 12-3 also on Wednesday.
